Boy, have they been working on their riverfront! This is a place to take your kids or grandkids. You can do it in one day, and if you decide to stay they have a hotel with a water park too. You don't have to stay at the hotel to enjoy the indoor water park!

Great Food
Barney's Korner Tap

They have the best BLT pita sandwich I have ever had -- in fact, I have never seen one on a menu anywhere else. It's worth the stop. Get the basket while you're at it, because they have awesome fries too!

Great homemade pies!!! We stop there every time we visit the folks at Shabbona Creek RV. Wouldn't miss it! (Vicky says: "The chocolate cream pie is my favorite!")
Places to Stay
Francis Park Campground
Four miles east of Kewanee, Ill., on Route 34(309) 852-2611
The "Woodland Palace" located here is really cool! It reminds me of a small version of the original House on the Rock. The "palace" is the former home of genius Fred Francis, inventor and innovator, artist and poet. He built the home. It has a water purification system and a form of air conditioning. He left his estate to the City of Kewanee to be maintained as a city park and museum. The campground offers 60 RV sites and 40 acres of woodland with trails.
Spirit in the Oaks Campground at Shadow Lake
27340 E 1350 StreetGeneseo, IL 61254

Three miles east of Joslin, Ill., on Route 92; or eight miles north of Geneseo on Route 82 and one mile west on Route 92. Camping, Native American tepees, RV camping, fishing with boat rentals. Nice quiet place!
